i hate fuel injunktion, it's the limiting factor for my 460. i've got replies that i can make 500hp with factory efi, but just like you, i don't want it. i want simple and more affordable. carbs worked for over 100years before they got booted, and that was a computer pun.

That is what i am talking about. I am converting my truck to carb I am getting the parts together now, to do it. It really is cheaper to put the carb on and do the tuning yourself, and easier then running somewhere to get it done. Now i will say a set up like something conaski has is really cool, and i must say i hope i have a chance to tinker with something like some day. But almost anything he can do, I can do with 3 screws on carb. The only legitimate bad thing against a carb that i have heard on here is that it cant adjust it self for the tempature and atmosphere. But a quick turn of 3 screws and your good to go.

That's not true in all cases either.. especially when you are starting with an EFI vehicle. The stock SBF SD EFI system can handle a 300hp motor with no changes whatsoever and the BBF system will handle 350hp or so. So up to that point you're only buying engine hopup parts whereas if you convert to a carb you first need to spend $1000 or so to convert the motor and more if the trans has to be changed and then you can start buying performance parts, so you're starting off $1k-$2k behind where you would be if you just left the EFI system on it.

Now once you build the motor up above what the stock EFI system can handle then you have to start dumping more $$ into it, MAF conversion, larger injectors and MAF meter, tuners, etc, whereas you just change the jets on the carb and tweak some screws. At that point the carb setup is cheaper to upgrade but depending how good you are at finding deals and utilizing junkyard parts you may still be $$ ahead with the EFI setup, but there's no doubt it takes a lot more smarts to be able to tune it to run at it's potential.

See for me it would be a cheaper option to upgrade to MAF because i have the E4OD Tranny I am sure i can find a Cali or MA Emissions 95 f150 or bronco to get the brainbox out of (google junkyards in those states) and then there is no stopping me MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA lol

yeah that does make a huge difference, i got a zf, but if i had a e40d i'd swap to a c-6, cause my truck isn't my daily driver anymore so mileage isn't really that important

The 351/5.8 is an awesome platform that can deliver close to the same performance as a stock 460 with a few mods and more with a stroker kit, but the bigger the truck the more motor you need so it's not the answer for everybody.

i am also goin to use the same cam that Paul has (and being right around the corner from the headquarters for comp cams really helps ) maybe the edlebrock truck intake, new injectors, of course a MAF Conversion, i will have the engine block cleaned and put some better pistons and crank in it, have the heads ported and polished, put an electric fan on the truck, delete the air pump system, etc etc etc

So, back on topic, I need a zf 5 speed (which how does it connect to a speedometer? Cause the whole interior will be getting gutted and will have a custom gauge set, marine stereo system, roll cage [which is where the dash will be incorporated, all metal]), pedal assembly out of a 5 speed truck, different crossmember, slave cylinder, borge warner transfer case. What else am I missing? this seems to easy.
