Going to change out the ATF in the transfer case. Does it take a special kind?
Thanks

Can you do it with a funnel or does it need one of those suction guns?

It can be done with a funnel but a hand operated fluid transfer pump is a much better option.

Anyone have any objections to using Mobil1 ATF Syn? Just wanted to see what your thought s were?

Lots use the Mobil 1, I used it in my '03 about 15k miles ago. The '06 I wanted to clean it out before going synthetic, so I'm running regular Mercon V for a while before switching over.

I used Royal Purple Synchromax. I have about 15k miles on it w/ that fluid. All is well.

Yeah, the transfer case isn't too picky about fluids. Any Mercon or Mercon V compatible fluid will work, and probably a lot of other fluids.

It takes mercon V, used amsoil Synthetic Universal ATF that covers mercon V, and the 4X4 system is not as loud, I also have amsoil in the diffs.

Thats what I'm using, no problems so far- @ 10k miles. Have it in the rear also. Need to change the front since its getting warm now.
