I recently installed a set of single shot injectors and will sometime in the near future need to update the turbo. i perfert to stay with the stock one but what updates can i do that will make it last? Can i run a bigger exhaust house than i have? and how about the ATS compressor housing?
Yes you can run both a larger turbine housing and the ATS compressor housing to help manage EGT's and surge. However, just remember that with anything above stock injectors, you're really pushing that stock turbo beyond it's limits.... even with the housing changes.
I already have the 1.0 exhaust housing but my egt's seem to be fairly high empty. I havent pulled with it yet but i know they will be even higher. Just need ideas on how to manage egt's with the stock turbo.
I can hit 1400 easy on 80E! im really happy with the power but i can't be havin to watch the egt's every sec. i hook on a trailer either. Just thought i would see what you fellas had in mind. And i would like to stay away from the Van cuz i really like the decel feature on my DP
You sure you don't have a boost leak somewhere?? Lots of black smoke? Stage 1s should run okay with a 1.0 housing. I can bury my 1600 deg EGT gauge if I floorboard the pedal. Just passing someone or taking off somewhat hard from a light, no.
a quote from Bean's Diesel Performance i just read last night
Re: BDP stage 2 injectors going in.... anything else?

Wow, lots of misinformation here.
Stock turbo is capable of making 400-440hp with some minor modifications and live to tell about it as long as the tuning is done right. Mods that will help it get done is a 1.0 or 1:15 housing and a anti-surge wheel. A van turbo would work well also. If you get one just give us a shout for a van flange adapter, you wont just whip one out on a lathe once you see it you will understand.
We have tuned 38r's right up against a stock modded turbo and really gained nothing with stage 2 injs, stage 3's yes 2's no. Only thing gained is some lower egts but there again if tuned right egt's will not be a problem either even with a stock turbo.

i have a stock turbo with a 1.0 housing and WW in it and ran it up to 35 lb of boost with my stage 2's and she wouldnt hit 1300* till almost full throttle....its all in tuning as long as there no leaks in the system..
