Problem is I cant get the door open it is locked shut again! I have someone turn the key and that does not trigger the mechanism to unlock the hatch. I checked with a test light that power is going to the actuators on both sides. Seems to me everything is getting power, but even if the actuators fail shouldn't the key still unlock the door? I have to look at the cables but you would think the actuators would be making some kind of noise to try and push/pull the rods into place. Just seems like a very poor design!
Also what is that plug in the center of the back window for? For the longest time I thought it should be plugged to the key lock but I saw that it was not going to anything and I saw photos of the same thing on someone replacing their actuators.
So been a few weeks and finally broke down to have the dealer look at it when I took the excursion in to have the cruise recall work done to it. After 30 min of them looking at the rear window they told me they would need me to bring it back next week and they would have to break the latches to get the rear door open again. Not being one to break something to fix it I said to freaking way, and paid the stupid $45 dollars they charged me to get the f out of there. 45 dollars to tell me to break the latch. Well not satisfied I called the dealer that is further away and they said bring it down for no charge will take a look should not be that big of a deal.
5 minutes later they come to the waiting room and tell me that I need to come see this. The guy I had bought the X from well in the life time of the X never cleaner a single door seal on the back. All that was wrong with it was a dirty door seal. Opened fine when I got it but over that two week period was stuck solid! So furious and very angry they did not charge me, called the other dealership fools and then I proceeded on my way calling the prior dealership to get my 45 dollars back! All worked out in the end and came out knowing that a seal can have a sufficient amount of sticking power when dirty enough!
So I know where I will never ever take my vehicle to.
My actuator was stuck and I broke it when I pulled it out. But my key works great now. I need to repair a couple of actuators in the doors anyway, so I'm going to buy one new actuator and swap it in to one of the bad doors and then do the penny fix on the one I pull out. Lather, rinse repeat until I install the final one in the rear hatch.
