so i figured this would spawn a good debate becuase there seems to be a huge difference in opinion in this matter. On a efi motor if you up the fuel pressure will it increase performance???
On a NA engine, no. you will run rich and decrease performance. On a forced induction engine, along with increased boost pressure, yes. You always need more air with more fuel.
Upping fuel pressure with forced induction is still a band-aid for a lack of proper injector sizing and tuning. The effect on performance depends on what the pressure change does for the atomization characteristics of the injectors. Increasing fuel pressure for a richer mixture is not going to give any performance advantage, as the computer will adjust the injector pulse width to compensate, bringing the mixture back to where it started.
I think it is possible if your fuel injectors are somewhat clogged, Try it and see. If you gain throttle response you probably have injectors that need cleaning. Higher pressure may give you better fuel atomization if you injectors are restrictive.
