ya that could be very possible. there is a reason for a fan to come on alot. oil cooler pluged would be one of them, temp spikes from exhaust going into the cooling system would be another. just going off of what I can read in the reports.

Great Post!!

wow cheezit awesome post with the report! i appreciate it very much. many thanks. you just saved me all kinds of hassle/time/etc. i will take your advice and not even bother going to look at it.

zman yeah truck envy...no kidding. i've been looking for about a month now. they are asking 28 big ones for that bad boy. in comparison to some of the other trucks i've seen around town its not a bad deal, however i do think its still a little high. i think i will take your advice and not even bother going to look at it.

btw my current truck is an 05 F150 XLT CC 4x2 5.4L 3.73LS tow package, tranny cooler, etc. its mostly stock with a few upgrades. bilstein shocks (struts) up front and rancho rsx rear, Line-X, PIE Adapter. just hit 75k today. it is a very nice looking truck, considering it is all stock.

ill put this out there. I paid 28k for a fx4 swb cc. that had 33k miles and never had a warranty repair. Like I said I hunted for a truck for over a year. I ordered my headstuds tonight. I will be pulling my engine most likly in the next 2 weeks and doing a few other things. Im going proactive....

Sorry to have been the bearer of the not so positive news.

to be honest i'm not all that dissapointed. it is a very nice looking truck but more miles and older than what i'd prefer to buy.

awesome deal on your truck....i will keep that in mind as i keep looking. there is a ford dealer a few hours away with a huge inventory of used f250s....i plan to check it out sometime this week. they had quite a few in there online inventory with less than 30k miles. do you think they will hassle me if i ask for an OASIS report?

they should not. make sure you ask to see the warranty repair history that is a littler deeper then the 6mon of info oasis shows. its just on another screen, so one more click of a button. the sale guys may not know how to do it but someone in service sure will.

i'm sure i could search and find the info, but if you don't mind my asking how difficult is it to upgrade the headstuds? i mean i am fairly mechanically inclined, is it something i'd be able to do myself or is it recommend to have a shop take care of it?

quite the job then. if i opt to upgrade at some point, will definatly take it to a shop. i've heard some posters recommend buying the studs and asking ford to replace them if you run into those issues. they'll have the heads off to replace the gaskets anyways i guess. anyway, good luck with your upgrade/overhaul.

something is definatly at foul play with that truck, it may have had a programmer, but these days the mounts they use for the modules are suction mounted to the windsheild, and are easily removable (can you guess why?) as for the holes in the dash, those look like accessory switch holes, for lights, or maybe even an aftermarket air compressor. with all the collant problems and dtc's poping up with the OASIS report, id walk right past this one. even though it looks sweet as hell!!!!! but as we all learn at some point in life, looks can be VERY deceiving.

on to the next one

thanks for the replies, you've all helped me make my mind up on this one.

had some spare time today (off work early) and continued my search for THE truck. found a few at a dealer a couple hours away and asked the salesman to e-mail me the warranty repair reports.

is there another way for me to check these trucks out? i went to the local ford dealer and gave them a few trucks to look up. 2 trucks i got full reports on, the other 2 not sure what happened. i get the feeling they don't want me bugging them for the reports.

cheezit looked this last truck up, but i don't really want to bother him again.

i may have an opportunity to get a truck at auction (same auctions the dealers go to) and am thinking about getting the list of trucks to check their reports as well. however, i really don't want to waste anybody's time having them look up all these reports and sending them to me.
