New to the site, first post so go easy please. Searched a bit, but couldn't find an answer....and I've never owned a diesel so I'm still learning all the inn/outs. Question is when should glow plugs be changed for these 6.0 diesels? Reason I'm asking is I've been looking for a used 05-07 F250. I went to go look at one at a local dealer, but when I got there I was told the truck I wanted to see was getting new glowplugs. Truck only has 60k miles. Seemed to throw a red flag that something fishy was going on. Some of the posts I pulled up regarding glowplugs mentioned some guys running 100k or more miles and never having to change them. Could have been the 7.3 with the high miles on GPs....Anyway, before I buy anything I will definatly get the carfax and OASIS reports. Just wondering if somebody had some insight as to why the GPs on this 05 F250 with only 60k needed new glow plugs.
I think that he means some folks have a few problems with glow plugs and some don't.
Personally, I do not see very many threads that turn out to be glow plug or GPCM issues. There are a few, but they are not the "bad actors" that the early ICP's were or the late STC fittings are.

Welcome to FTE! This is a great place to learn the inns and outs and ups and downs of the Powerstroke 6.0L.

Thanks ! That is what I was saying just not all wordy lol
DEFINATLY get a service report and CARFAX report on that truck before you buy. cause maybe it didnt need new injectors, but they may have replaced something bigger and told you something else just so you wouldnt be alarmed, and scared to buy it.
good advice whitefordexplorer. i am already having second thoughts on this truck and haven't even seen it (other than pics online). it is a very nice looking truck. midnight blue (ford calls it another color) lifted lariat cc fx4 with the sport package (painted bumpers and different grill) nice looking alloy wheels with bfg a/ts. grill and bumpers look like the harley davidson edition kind of.
after researching some more on here i think i would like something with less miles. i am afraid if it has not been properly maintained it may have all sorts of issues. a lower mile truck would have less liklyhood of not being maintained. also, with all the mods done to the exterior, i'm afraid it has probably had a tuner on it as well. i noticed on one of the interior pics the dash panel to the left of the steering wheel had what appeared to be a hole in it, maybe from a tuner or monitor being mounted there. will probably take a look at it anyway, but liklihood of buying is low.
