Spare Tire Hardware
I don't know the spare tire is supposed to mount up in my truck. All I have currently is a rusted out bolt with a hook on the end that dangles down while I drive down the road.
Anyone know wehre I can get the needed hardware and how is mounts in?

Click on the .pdf file and you will see the illustration of the spare tire carrier from the Ford parts catalog.
As for where to get the parts, your best bet will probably be a salvage yard. Most of these parts have probably been obsolete for years.

I could not get his pdf file to open but I can tell you it mounts under the rear tank. One side has a regular bolt and the other side has a threaded bolt with a loop on the end. The loop fits through a slot in the carrier then turns sideways to latch, then you tighten up the other bolt to snug it up. You could just use 2 bolts if you want. Do you want a stock carrier? I have one I will give you. I always cut them off and throw them away cause they rattle. I have one I just took off a 79 in my scrap pile thats going to the dump. I dont know where you live but if you want to pay postage I will mail it to you from zip 67059
