ignition module question
last month we went to winter sport and my Aero began to have headache when hot: engine died suddenly and didn't want to re-start for half an hour, several time of course and each time in the worst place: snowy hillclimb, turnpikes and so on.
I purchased a new ignition module and in installation tips they recommend to change also the hall effect unit if is black (early model) for new one (blue). I am puzzled because if is it true I'll have to wait several week for a new one (I live in France) and also with a risk, if this is no more available, to buy a new distributor.
My Aero is a 3,0 L 1989 with the module installed on the distributor, the plugs, wires, cap and rotor are 40 000 mls; previously he worked like a dream.
The module brand is: Standart Motor products, Inc.
An advice, please!!!!
so rewire for fender mounted TFI and get new TFI.
some possibilities for moving your distributor mounted TFI as pablo-ua has done and also many other Ford 3L owners
i suggest using shielded wiring to prevent interference to the TFI signals
