Long story short, truck kept clogging egr valve and a new one fixed problem. Valve would clog with soot, become inop. and truck would go into limp mode. Truck IS juiced. But replacing egr valve fixed problem and got truck on road, also during valve replacement i put some stainless fit to the gasket surface area in the TOP egr cooler in the TOP port, (easiest one accessible) to prevent the soot from flowing into my egr valve and ruining it. NOW i am getting this egr light for insufficient flow and it keeps coming on. is there any way i can fix this or "bypass" something?
tune is through sct; older one. NOT the livewire that is currently on market. i know that i can have them make a "delete" for the egr being blocked but is there any other way to fix this?
The only way I see that you can run it like that is to have a tuner turn the egr off on your tunes. I know that Spartan can do this. I don't know for sure, but I would guess that the computer sees what you did as the egr valve is clogged since the exhaust isn't running through it like it should be.
I believe the 275hp and 310hp tunes from Spartan are EGR off tunes, however, you can get them to turn off the EGR under any tune. So you blocked off the EGR but how do you deal with excess pressure in the system? I would think you would need a wastegate to blow off any pressure, or feed it into the exhaust.

Actually, I believe that the 175 hp & below use the EGR normally, the 210hp tune cycles the EGR at idle only, and the 250hp + tunes disable it all together...
good info and useful, thanks to everyone. but i dotn believe any pressure is being created with the block, just a "pocket" of exhaust due to no flow, but spartan is out of question. i have the sct one & am keeping it...

From what I understand, the 275 and 310 are the only tunes that the EGR is disabled on when you get them. You have to request that the EGR be disabled on the other tunes, which I am sure comes at a cost. Unless something changed with that software update they came out with a week or so ago.

I don't know for sure.... I was just going by memory (or lack there of) of something I read on their Forum a while back. I could be mistaken. As for the cost, If you buy it that way on initial purchase, the cost is the same as the base tune. When you have a tune you already purchased and need to change it, i.e EGR delete, then there is a small additional cost. I don't remember the actual cost though.
