I had no nss on the old cj5 I had. I always left it in nuetral. One morning after letting my now ex drive it I went out to start it for work. I reached in and turned the key and it started alright. It took off and luckly ran into a telephone pole about 10 feet away. I use the nss since then lol.
my NSS was gone when i got it. It also had a push button start which toasted a starter. Just habit i always leave it in neutral. I don't need to worry about anyone driving it since my wife can't reach the petals (she is 4'11").
Also My Taurus had a bad ignition switch and i jumped the relay to start it. i had to chase it 20 feet to stop it when it jumped the curb tried to leave without me. i ended up with a 3" cut on my wrist where the hood closed on it. BTW the car is an automatic.
How about connecting the wires through a toggle switch? It would make an excellent theft-resistant feature. Flip it up to run, flip it down not to run.
