I've heard a few people mention air jacks. I've never seen any at the stores.Does anybody know anything about them? I was thinking that I could put an air hookup on the end of them cheap ones, where that nut is that you unscrew to release the pressure. Wouldn't that be cool? Just turn the valve and blow some air in there to raise the jack? Am I just thinking crazy, or is there someway that I could do this?
Air pressure isn't enough to lift a vehicle with a trolley jack. There's a few types of air jacks, the most common is a hydraulic bottle jack that has an air motor driving the pump. Another type uses the air directly, but they have a quite large cylinder and also leak down.
I have one of those air hydrolic bottle jacks. It's 12 ton, and it has come in handy several times when used tolift and level out old houses. I got on Ebay a few years ago, I think I paid aroud 50.00.

So they do make them. The reason I asked is because I'm installing an air compressor in my truck, and thought it would be nice to keep one in the truck. I'm using a little 2 ton floor jack now, it's small enough not to take up a lot of room. But it sucks pumping it up.
Harbor freight doesn't list any prices, I'll call the store in Duluth tomarro. There the closet one. They've got a 25-50 ton floor jack that weighs 176 pounds. Imagine throwing that around the driveway. That 12 ton bottle jack would work for me.
That pillow jack thing that hooks up to your exhaust is a good idea. Looks like it would work pretty good. I wonder how much room it takes up.
