any thoughts on this?
sorry for being a here on the forums
Hollywood is on the right track, I would drain the water from the seperator on the fuel line. Mine did the same thing last winter in Milwaukee, I had to get towed home by a duramax, and havent heard the end of it yet. I f you buy diesel fuel from a station that doesnt sell much, sometimes you will get a little water in it, and it collects in the seperator and will freeze.
If after the fuel filter change you're still having issues, shoot me a PM. Maybe I can come lend a hand and get your truck running again.
man that would be great if u could come by here im in spring .just im used to saying houston being thats where i work...i live off of 2920&falvel.........

You're litterally 10 mins away from me, lol.
I live off of gosling and 2920, shoot me a PM and we'll work something out
Tested both batteries and found them holding 12.53 volts...thoroughly cleaned both terminals with a wirebrush and still no change.
Tried to remove the EGR valve for cleaning and it just wouldn't come out no matter what I did!
Since the FICM tested good, my next guess was the ICP sensor. All of the symptoms he mentioned and the truck is exhibiting seem to point to the ICP sensor: crank, no start, we cranked for a good 30-45 seconds and the dash guage did move up, but the truck never started. Had I been able to reach the ICP and unplug it, I somehow feel that truck would've started unless it was the HPOP leaking.
Something else I noticed was that there was some oil towards the back of the engine and it seemed to be staining the transmission housing. Not sure if it's the bellhousing leak or the rear main seal making itself known.
Since I don't own an AE, (in addition to the other issues) I was wondering if there was a way I could use my SCT's datalogging feature to monitor the ICP while cranking.....?
You changed the fuel filters I'm guessing? And checked to make sure he's getting fuel(secondary fuel filter bowl should fill up with fuel when you turn the key on)? Next suggestion from me would be the HPOP.
I would also get that EGR valve out and replace it. I know you said it wouldn't budge, but I am sure you could rig up something to give you more (but safe) leverage.
You might as well verify you are filling the upper fuel filter (although this does not test the fuel pump for full pressure it is better than nothing).
also - were you able to load test the batteries or just check the voltage?
Liv: Oil and fuel filters have been changed using Motorcraft filters. We also pulled the fuel filter on top of the engine and the bowl fills like it should.
cheezit: I'm attempting to use my old SCT X-cal2s data logging function to monitor the ICP while cranking. It's not the one found on Ford's NGS that I WISH I had right now. Given that I don't have an NGS, is there a better way to monitor the ICP? Voltage?
Bismic: I've tried like hell and that EGR valve will NOT come out. I'm starting to think that I may have to start removing a few things around it to get a better angle to pry at it.
As for the batteries, I just checked them with the multimeter I used testing the FICM. I'll see if I can meet up with him again, run over to autozone, and have them load tested.
May just have dig down to the ICP somehow and unplug it...
