You gotta remember tho, they were advertised and geared as the soccer mom type vehicle. The 4x4 on something like that is more of a reasurance for them when on the paved roads during winter use than worrying about anything off road.
Thanks guys, I have no problem with the standard on the fly vacuum hubs. With a pair of pliers, they pop out in a second and are easily serviced with a great tutorial thanks to Guzzle. I understand about limited slip and lock ups but wasn't quite sure what my newly acquired 2000 Ex actually had. I was hoping it was designed to be useful eq, backing my 5000 lb boat down a well kept gravel ramp, loosing traction on one wheel then having to get a frigging Toyota to pull you out Why bother making it a 4x4 if it's not done right. My take would have made a vehicle of this size when selecting Low Range, lock everything up. If driver knows what he/she is doing, no problem, if not then good for sales of Ford spare parts. Love my Ex, should have checked more as to what 4x4 options it had.
That's why they had the LS for an option. I agree they should be stock in all 4X4s. What happens is they get sold and the next guy would have gotten that option new.
