Sheared off 4 exhaust mani studs. Nearly impossible to drill out in truck. Am in process of removing intake and heads. Have all bolts out but intake won't budge. Suggestions?
Standard procedure is drain coolant, pull valve covers, rocker rails, pushrods (keep in order), pull carb and install engine lift plate, remove distributor, unbolt intake and then use crane to separate. There are five bolts per side, and the thing weighs about 80lbs plus being stuck to the engine by 35-45 years of habit.
i slid a thin flat bar in between mine when i had to take the heads off. it's red and used for pulling trim off. just wiggled it through the gasket then lightly pried.
