So I was looking at those pictures and trying to figure out where to cut my new dp at to make it into a two piece. can you measure from bottom of bell to where the split is please? I am just going to cut it and use a flat band to put it together once I get it in.

just cut the "cobra head" off at the top by the turbo and it should pull out from the bottom in one piece

Sorry I should have specified. My new DP is a one piece and I am going to cut it to make it a two piece to get it in.

you planning to use a pipe expander and then clamp it back together after you cut it, You can cut it anywhere you like as long as u can fit the clamp in there to secure the 2 pieces back together.

When I had to fab up my downpipe for the new turbo I created one like the "downpipe" that I previously had. My system is pretty tight since my charger sets lower in the valley than the stock or H2E. I have a vibration sometimes, usually when I'm going through pot holes or twisting the frame. Nothing that is not unbearable.

In your case you need to cut the DP when it's at the 45 degree angle. I would say in the middle, but a little closer to the top so it clears the transmission bolts. I'm not sure if the automatic transmission is different.

In any 3" 2 piece DP install your gonna need to "snake" aka spin it around until you can get it to fit in between the firewall and head.

I thought it might be appropiate to add some pictures of the downpipe on a one inch grid. Hopefully they will make things easier for you.

Credit Neal for the pics... This is what I went off on mine...

Hope that helps.

Ok cut the factory one out oh did it feel good to cut that POS out and then cut my new one and it is NOT the right one!!!!! The one I have does not bend around right away like the one in the first picture above does. So I am just going to buy one that I know is right for my truck. My question is where does everyone buy theirs from or recomend buying it? I simply do not have the time to modify one up. Reps sent to farm69 and Neil for the pics

I believe riffraff diesel has MBRP downpipes for like 85 bucks or something. or Tymar performance has downpipes too.

I should have specified that the one in the picture is slightly different at the neck... aka the top where it connects to the turbo. The rest of it is still the same.

The bottom of the pipe should still be the same. The pipe in the picture is for a H2E turbo so it's going to be a tad different. Your still going to make your cut on the 45 degree piece. If it helps, hold your pipe up like its installed and visualize the area where it starts to pull away from the heads just enough to get a clamp in there and clear the firewall/transmission.

Why is your downpipe only in one piece?

Ic ic. I'm sure you have the right pipe, although I've never heard of any single piece ones. Doesn't mean that they don't exist.

How did the cutting go? Is it going to work?

Sounds like you got a 3" dp off of a 7.3 out of a E-series vehicle. I have one of those laying around thinking it would work but there is no way even if I mod the heck out of it.

I got mine from Bean's Diesel Performance for $85, on the site it said "MBRP" but the box I got said "Diamond Eye", but either way it fits good and was easy to install...

if you want one the expands at the bottom like 3" at top and 3.5" or 4" at bottom go with Tymar, call Dale and he can help you. THey cost more but are good pipes. You can also have him ceramic coat it for you.
