2002 F-150 Trailer Light Problem

I have a 2002 F-150 and the brakes/blinkers work for the trailer lights but not the taillights. I've looked and can't find a fuse that specifically controls that? When i got the truck there was a 7 blade and a 4 pin wired in. There are 2 brown wires... neither one will give me anything. Any ideas?

Thanks

Pull the 7 pin and remove the case and check for corrosion inside the case. This is normally caused by bad ground (s). Without the trailer hitch attached to the truck, see if your trailer lights work.... if not, it's using the ball-hitch as a ground. NOT GOOD!

90% of all trailer power problems are bad grounds... the other 10% is wiring/corrosion problems.

Just to make sure I am on the "same page" you have brake and turn signals on the trailer, but you do not have marker or taillights on the trailer? Brown is normally tail lights and marker lights on the trailer, provided the recommended color code was maintained.

As suggested above, check the seven pin on your truck. You should find power at the seven pin when the tail lights on the truck are on. It may be a ground, but given you have stop and turn lights, I would also focus on a corroded pin. Just check the pin with everything off, but the tail lights on the truck.

Good luck,

Steve

Fuse #5, 20 amp, in the fuse box under the hood, provides power for the trailer backup and parking lights. Check that one.
