looking at one and have seen good reviews on it, i have a journey HD with the delay setting and it drives me nuts.
another question, i was told to air up my rear tires to about 50psi while towing? should i leave the front tires at around 30ish like normal to help with turning traction or air them up aswell?
Tires are aired according to the load on them. If you are adding weight to the front and rear, all tires would normally be aired up some. How much depends on how much weight they are being asked to carry. You can always air to the maximum cold inflation pressure shown on the sidewall, but over-inflation will shorten tire life somewhat. For most rigs that is not a great issue. Clearly under-inflation is likely to be more dangerous as flexing and heat can lead to a blow-out.
In my experience, any of the high-end controllers are comparable. The bells and whistles are just a bit different or display somewhat differently. The Prodigy generally draws good reviews as do several others. I can't honestly say I have had trouble with any controller I have owned. I like the Hayes G3 I currently run, but would never argue with anyone about their choice. My two cents worth there.
I have a Tekonsha Prodigy ( P3 ) Best controller i ever bought. Ebay for around $100.
What is the max rating of your tires (cold)? That is what i would pump them up to in the rear and 5 to 10 less in the front. And leave it there.
My tires are 80psi tires. (e) I have them at 80 in the rear. 65-70 in the front. leave it there always.. never know when i will be hooking up stuff or hauling.
hey Devon....I had the Prodigy on my previous F250..... I too thought it was the best controller I've ever owned!
I also agree with the previous posters.... air up your tires to the PSI inscribed on the sidewalls (or to what's recommended on the doorjam) when you are towing....feel free to drop it down to less NOT towing for comfort. I leave mine up to doorjam recommendation all the time.
x3 for prodigy, good and dependable. I always run my tires at the max psi on the sidewall. Ride is a little hasher empty, but then again not that empty most of the time so for me I just leave them there.
