Thanks, lazyk, but that manual isnt free. It asked me for credit card. I hate when they say its free but its not, thats just a flat out lie! I have the crappy chilton manual on automatic trans repair but its very vague and doesnt show step by step on the C6.

Apologies for that. I found that site a while back and bookmarked it in case I needed it but did not try a download. Guess "free" must not mean free anymore.

You might contact typefour, he seems like a cool guy and has a lot of experiance on the C6 tranny builds also.

The C6 has been around for about five decades. The tranny has gone thru a multitude of improvements and mods in that time. They are fairly cheap to rebuild and there are a lot of aftermarket upgrades to be had. I would rebuild it with upgrades. They are pretty much bullet proof if driven with minimum of common sense. Plus you don't need to modify your electrical for a computer and/or fab any parts for it to fit. It's a straight and easy R&R.

similar problem

I have a problem pretty close to this one. My C6 is a gas burner type and I just rebuilt it with clutches/steels. I also added a high stall convertor and fairbanks shift kit for a little extra power for my field truck (86 F250). The engine recently came out of a 91 F150 and is a 5.0L as opposed to the original 5.8L. It was fun finding the proper flexplate as the 5.0L required the counterweight and apparently was not an option with the C6. Anyway, before the rebuild, there was a delay in the 2nd-3rd shift but other than that no problems. After the rebuild....at WOT around 25mph I lose power as if 2nd engages while fighting 1st??? and then whatever gear it is in starts slipping past 4k until around 45 when I can feel 3rd engage and I have power again and the rpms drop back to around 2700. I had already replaced the Vacuum modulator as suggested by a local trans shop with no change. One special note though....as this kit seems to require Mercon V I used regular ATF just incase there were any bugs to work out...seems like there always is when i rebuild a transmission...just my luck HAA. I am leaning towards torn seals in the band piston?? or maybe valves in the valve body binding? I did use a lot of brake cleaner to clean everything so that would not be a surprise. I am leaning towards dropping the VB anyway to drain out as much of the ATF as I can in preparation for the Mercon V transfusion P
