Most all of us on here are familiar with this info, however I thought I would share these photos for the new people here, and MOSTLY for the fact I was VERY! bored at work today so I made use of my time. Sorry, the pics were taken with my phone.
Well I was doing a UCI on a trade-in truck, 05 F350 6.0. Popped the oil filter cap and this is what I found.
Im just posting these so people can see some pics of why NOT to use aftermarket filter assemblies.
Notice in this picture how SHORT the oil filter is........My guestimate is about 1-1.5'' too short
In this photo you will see how squashed the filter is. Its shaped like an hour glass and was severly twisted.
And this is the filter I was forced to put back in it.... STAY AWAY FROM THESE FILTERS!!
Hope someone finds this usefull, if not.....well it gave me something to do and think about today at work
And I'll bet within a week someone will be on here saying that their A/M filter that they saved 2 bucks on is just as good as the OEM. We've been there and seen it before. Still, thanks for the pics. Hope it helps some of the new guys but I know there will still be some that know better till they come back crying about some sort of related filter failure and how Ford is screwing them. Sorry for the rant.
Speaking of oil, I was in the dealer the other day having my first warranty work done (just before the 60 month expires). When I picked up the truck, the service advisor told me to run Motorcraft filters only and above all, "don't put that rotundra in it." So I said, "why would I need to haul a Toyota?" He looked at me like I had a third eyeball. So I asked him if he meant Rotella.

If its got the API rating let him try to deny a warranty. Tell him to put the reason in writing. Trust me Rotella or any other major oil co. will own his 1st born son.
