Which explorer?

Which explorer?
Looking at buying a 02-03 explorer. Are there any I should avoid? Any problems to look for? I'm looking at a 6 cylinder for fuel mileage reasons, my f350 v-10 is killing me. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Avoid the 02 Explorer too many issues there. And just to let you know the V8 version of the explorer gets about the same fuel mileage as the V6 and listen to the rear for a whine and check the color and smell of the transmission fluid.

My wife and I bought an 02' Explorer Eddie Baur V6 4wd from the original owners about 2 months ago. We really like it; had to replace rear wheel bearings, they were making some noise but fine now. Only gripe I have is there is no transmission dipstick for the tranny. Just has drain plug and a fill plug on side of transmission. It is a nice car and smooth quiet ride and gets about 17 to 20 mpg all the time, haven't taken it on a long road trip to see what kind of mileage it gets.
