warning lights

99 explorer xlt I had the brake light, air bag light come on and speedo stop working and then next time i got in car everything was fine

any thoughts thanks wayne

still no thoughts on what cause something crazy like this?

Assuming you didn't have issues with the brake fluid or parking brake lever, airbag/clockspring, and vehicle speed sensor all coincidentally at the same time, the common item would be the instrument cluster. Oddly the indicators are typically active when they receive a ground so a short circuit to ground on those three would seem unlikely but not impossible. I'd start by carefully inspecting the wiring to the instrument cluster, connection at the instrument cluster, and flex circuit of the instrument cluster. Well, actually I'd start by checking for diagnostic codes in the PCM, GEM, and other modules, but not all scan tools are capable of modules other than the PCM.
