It was the drivers-side motor mount, both bolts punched a hole through the mount plate because he used normal hex-head 1/2" nuts and they didn't have enough area to keep from doing it. I went to lowes and got the sand and grim/oil off the threads with WD and a towel, and removed 1 barely - the thread was damaged in each nut or something. Put a big fat washer and a nut with one side thats the circle deal and the other is the hex-head nut. They call 'em flange nuts.
Problem is, the other nut would loosen to the end of the bolt and stick, then the whole bolt started spinning. What should I do about that?
Either way I can turn left again without the momentum of the block lifting it up and grinding whatever it was (flywheel or something in the vicinity?). It always felt the same... That much metal coming up and slamming down... Least the suspension works
Just my two cents...since the question was what to replace them with, OEM or aftermarket...anything that is a pain-in-the-*** to replace, like motor mounts, get the BEST parts I can find. I figure the extra few bucks might be worth it so I don't have to do it again soon. I have been know to go to NAPA, Carquest, Advance Auto and others to compare the quality before I buy the best ones I can find, but, I do live in Des Moines, so I have at least three large auto warehouses here that keep stockages.
If they don't have what I need, I shop almost exclusively over the internet at Rock Auto Parts. RockAuto Auto Parts
I have found they ship almost immediately so my projects don't stall, shipping is as cheap as they can make it, HUGE selection of everything from sheet metal to major assemblies, and good quality parts.
