I don't have a problem with the product, I have a problem with the guy selling them. I've seen a few of his kits and they seem top notch, but in all honesty you can piece an identical setup together minus the clamp to hold the filter for much less.
So your saying 01 afe will fit in and 02. It just won't have the indicator on the 01 air box? Reason why I ask is I want to take out my afe stage 1 and put it in my 02. Then I am going to order a 6637 kit. Is the 6637 that loud and anoying or is it something you just have to get used to.
Yes the kit from the 01 will fit the 02, it just won't likely have the provision for the filter minder, which isn't really a big deal since unplugging it doesn't throw a code or anything.
I don't find my 6637 that loud or annoying but I haven't ever ran anything else besides the stock airbox to compare it too.

Thanks chase for the info. By the way what is or who is TYMAR.
I did the same, except I didn't wait 2 months. I'm fine with my AIS, but if I were to do it over again, I'd seriously consider the S&B also.
i have considered S&B as well as others but i really dont want to fiddle with cleaning and oiling filters....not if there is a good alternative. call me lazy

Thats the reason i sold my AFE Stage 2 and went with the TYMAR. I got tired of cleaning the darn filter. its nice not to have to worry about it. Now i just spend $23-$24 and replace the filter when it gets dirty

Tymar performance is a company that sells a few things for our trucks, including an intake using a 6637 style filter. The DIY 6637 that many of us run are derived off of the setup he came up with.
Thanks for the info again Chase. Is 6637 kit from tymar the sameas Clays kit? If so what is the difference.
Similar. Dale's kit (Tymar) uses some factory Ford pieces (intake hose, battery tray), a piece of metal tubing, and a large clamp for the filter. PwerStroke99 has the setup, he should post some pics
Edit- You can buy the filter from Clay (about $30), a nice intake tube made out of 4" tubing (about $70) and then pick up a passenger side battery tray from a junkyard (I paid $10 for mine) and have essentially the same thing as the $250 or so Tymar kit. Or you can use the stock intake hose (just as functional but doesn't look as nice) and have a Tymar-esque setup on a really low budget.
