March BS Thread
Good Morning Steve & Pat. How are you guys doing today? We have sunshine it looks like today. Had rain & snow yesterday but nothing stuck. Suppose to be in the high 40s or low 50s.

Hey all TGIF! Had a great time in Vegas but a lot of work to catch up on when I got back. I'm done with San Diego and will be spending the next 18 months in the desert, where it's sunny and mid 70's right now. Well, time to head to the airport!
I got my truck back yesterday. I can't believe the little differences a Hughes Tow Converter & a TransGo shift kit make. The TransGo Kit is not just a Valve body kit they include a 6th clutch for the forward clutch pack.
The differences, a drop of about 200 RPM @ 67 MPH. A drop in water temp about 8 degrees. An increase in oil pressure @ crusing speed of 2 PSI. From a dead stop the truck starts moving @ 900 RPM & is fully going @ 1200 RPM. Now the best from 7.5-9.0 MPG to 10.4 MPG. It is amazing how much slippage there is in a stock tranny & converter.

Under load it has a nice firm shift but it always did. Light throttle is just as it was. But it is clear it has much less slippage. One thing is the builder picked the middle of the road on springs when there were choices. I don't need it banging into gear. That is hard on 200,000 mile rear ends, drivelines, & transfer cases. At least now I know when I hook our 10,000# trailer behind it the tranny is now built to handle it better than it was. These old Fords are hard to beat. I still have 3 1/4 turns I could go in on the Vacuum Modular before I'm maxed out to stiffen up shifts if I really wanted. I have & still believe there might of been a shift kit put in this tranny years ago closer to its new days.
