351 w headers

I've got an 86 f-150 4x4 with a 351HO windsor. One of my exhaust manifolds is cracked. Can anyone tell me if a set of modern 302 mustang headers will work on this application, as they are very readily available on E-bay?

they will bolt up to the engine just fine,but the exit points will be off,if they work at all,you will have to get a custom exhaust done.

Clearance is rather tight on the passenger side. I found a set of ceramic coated Ford Racing shorties off of a Saleen Mustang, but from looking at the photo, I don't think they will fit. Is there anyone who has done this mod on their 86 f-150.

well I got a set of Ford Racing headers for my 97 250. I have not installed them yet but I am hoping for some GOOD results. I have the same problem with the manifolds being cracked. I started to just replace them with manifolds from O'Riely's but they were not of good quality, so spent an extra 1oo.oo and got the headers

Mustang headers won't mate with the truck Y-pipe, and shorties alone will produce zero gains if the stock cats remain.

All the emissions stuff and the cats are missing from mine. I have duel exhaust going through turbo type mufflers. Would I realize any gains in the 2500-4500 RPM range with shorties?

In that case yes.. the manifolds are almost as restrictive as the stock cats.
