"The 2wd I used 70 mustang headers, and for the 4wd swap I used 351M/400 headers." Jesse

i'll try to get more info

FWIW i have a set of 'unknown' 2V car headers, they slide in both sides no problem on a 72 Torino/Ranchero where my Hooker Supercomps need to have the engine just about pulled out, oil filter off and the car 3 feet off the ground to barely get them in. not lookin to sell them but just sayin, some headers are very compact while others are rediculous. there's another guy that made his own fenderwell exit headers for a Cleveland in a 62 Highboy from 2 sets

79 F150 w/ 2V 351c

The only difference, spacially, between the factory 351M/400, and a 351c is the deck height, with the C being shorter(1.092"-1.097" -ish). So, if you were to install a set designed for a 2V 351M/400, The headers would exit lower than they would on a M/400. What you'll have to watch for, should you install the M/400 style header, is ground(mud) clearance around the collector and flange area, and front drive-shaft clearance. Those should be a bolt on.

Jesse says he had to space the engine up a little...

"I dont know any of the part #'s but the headers for the 4x4 swap I just used 77-79 351m 400 headers. I think they were hedman hedders, but they fit perfect. I hope this helps, any other?s just ask.

P.S. Forgot to say,I had to space the motormounts from the block about a inch."

Not sure what you mean by spacing the motor mounts- they aren't a drop in?

he put spacers between where the mounts bolt to the block, effectively raising the heads into the same position as where they'd be if a 351M/400 block was in place. the Cleveland block is 1" shorter. the Cleveland block uses different mounts than the 351M/400, the bolts into the block are straight up and down making it easy to raise the block on the mounts.

I can say form experience that Hooker and Flowtechs for a 400/351M will not even come close to fitting a 79 F250 4x4 with a 2V cleveland. The outlets are too low and the exhaust had to be routed under the transmission crossmember and there are serious interfernce problems with the drivers side engine tower. If it ever thaws out I am going to try a set of Sanderson FC3 shortys, but I hate to reccomend them as the first set had some serious quality problems. They tried to tell me that the porosity in the welds was there to help sealing. I politely told the lady that I weld for a living and that was a giant load of s^(*t and they sent me a new set that looks pretty good.

If you use the 351m/400 header you will run into all of the issues stated above already.
Depending on what you want to spend......... Heres a link for headers, give them a call, tell them what you have and they can make the header you need. Top quality headers!

Exhaust

Ask for George.

My truck is a 82 f100 2wd, I have a 4V in mine. I used Hooker supercomp 351m/400 header with a 4V header plate welded on it. They sit low underneath (but tight to the bottom of the trans crossmember) but since clearance isn't an issue as it would be in a 4wd I can live with it, I also had clearance issues at the perches. I trimmed the perches a lil and used spacers between the mount and perch to raise the motor slightly.

Please keep us posted on the future installation. I won't be doing much until the weather improves, so I will be lucky to be ready by April.
