in the video it shows them removing a nice factory wire cover and putting some cheap piece of plastic that doesnt even shroud the wires completely in place of it, i dont know if that is such a good idea.. also i dont like the brake cable extension, looks poorly thought out..

I was not sure why they removed the wire cover, the other wire cover just looked like a thin piece of plastic, I don't know if that is the finished product.
i was actually able to unbolt the plate on the backside of the lights under the running board and replace the bulbs.I think it is a two bolt deal. I loosened one about half out and backed the other out completely and spun the plate out of the way so i could replace bulb. i have an 02 and don't know if this differed from year to year. It wasn't fun but i just replaced all four and the license plate bulbs. Good luck.
I did a post on it a while back but they should put all the innovative mods in a folder so they don't go by the wayside. It showed you how to replace them using standard bulbs and sockets from the auto parts store. The stock ones are way too expensive and won't last as long as my modification.

yep thats what i did , unbolted the metal plate and span it round , this leaves you enough room to get the bulb holder out
the ford part number if anyone is interested for the bulb socket is F81Z-13411-BA i had to change mine as the terminals were completely corroded inside
