Alright guys - I've been reading this forum for a long time, and have been around these trucks since i can remember, (was my first motor swap, my first motor rebuild, my first tranny rebuilt, etc) and there have been some pretty horrible color schemes. I am in a position at this point to paint this truck (a 79,4x4 f150) any color that I want. It's a single cab.
I think we need one of two things
1.) Post your build to give me some ideas or
2.) Give me your opinion on what I can paint this truck if it was yours.
House of colors and other paint schemes, let's get realistic. I need something that is realistic. (ya'll know what I mean!)
I'm looking for some ideas. I'll post some before and after pics after I'm done, but I really need some ideas here guys.
I've been everwhere from Millinium yellow to white to Ford blue.
I don't get to see many of our trucks, show me what you've done to yours!
Google is worthless in this area.
(Did I mention the before and after pics? promise I won't steal you ideas!)
Mine is victory red, my grandpas is fire engine red with white center, my dads was about hemi orange and wimbeldon white. Realistically, you should give us some more info, like what color of interior you have, what wheelbase, 2wd or 4, stance, what trim, wheels and tires, color preference, and dark or light.
Interrior color is irrelevant at this point, I'm looking for external colors as my current interrior is charcoal and I have access to others freely. The current wheels are 5 spoke 31" white spoke standard steel wheels. All of this is subject to change, and that's why I didn't include it in my original post.
personally, i think the reds, blues, and blacks are entirely overdone. take 100 dent owners and line there trucks up, id be surprised if 30 of em werent the above colors. not that they are bad, just a little too common for me. if it were me, id go with a silver or dark metallic gray. one i saw that i thought looked great was a dark, hunter green with a touch of metallic. or you can send the panels off individually and get it realtree camouflaged... (can you tell what i like to do on my free time? )
