Dana 60 work

hey there as you all know im putting a 79 dana 60 in my f150, i found a guy around my area that builds real nice offroad stuff. When i convert the axle to coil spring, im going to rotate the axle up to help my pinion angle alot, but when i do that its going to screw with my steering alot. that guy said for 400 he could cut the tubes and bring the steering knuckles back to the right specs, so it would be good to go? i trust my self welding and doin that part, just dont trust my self getting the axle back to "true" so what you all think?

You are going to have to mock it up under the truck and check the caster when you get the pinion angle set where you want it. Then figure out how many degrees you need to turn them to get the caster back where it needs to be. Big job, he's going to earn that $400. What does he mean by cutting the tubes ? Ivan cut the welds reindexed the C's and welded them back up.

sounds like you need to just grind the welds on your axle perches and set your axle under the truck and put the u bolts in it and roll your axle where you need it then weld it. with doing that your steering box should be right.

so he is going to cut or grind the welds down then remove the C's w/o actually cutting the tubes?if he cuts the C's off then removes the piece of tube from the C then reweld them to the tube ur axle will b about 3.5 inches more narrow.if he is going to remove C's w/o cutting the tube mark is right,he really is earning that $400

i dont think he would choose to go the route of making the axle not as wide, this guy is very highly respected in the offroad group around, hes a sharp guy, acaully his daughter is in my weldin program.....another question for all you geniuses out there, im setting my dana 60 up for coil spring, and i dont have rims for my 44s yet, so if i just stick on some stock tires and rims and set the pinion angle i want and then weld my c wedges on, when i put my 44s on thats not going to change anything right? just want to make sure im thinkin right? thanks
