The end is in sight I can see the headlights in the tunnel

The service manager called me to say my tophats had arrived today and that I could pick up my van tomorrow.

Listening to her I gathered that the dealership intended to hand me the tophats in their UPS box.

So I inquired and said that, ya I could install them myself but I'd have to jack up and R&R each wheel one at a time without the benefit of an impact gun.

She caught on that that would be a lot of work by 'hand.'

I then quickly followed-up with:
And has the wheel alignment been done already?
For as you know with the tophats going behind the rims, that affects my out-set.
And out-set affects the alignment.

She wasn't sure that they had done any alignment on my van said she would get back to me.

Hi there Ken

The current service manager came aboard mid way through this project, I believe my tires and stuff arrived before her, and that my drive line stuff arrived after she came on board.

She mentioned that my service writer took a short notice vacation down to Jamaica, later I think she let slip that he might not be coming back. I don't know if he already lost his job or might be in jeopardy of loosing his job. She said that he's a 'great guy' but falls short in 'communicating.' I take that to mean he doesn't write things down on work orders. And I have noticed post-its on mine.

Their diesel mechanic I guess is their only diesel mechanic and works his own hours. I suspect he has them over a barrel. Its my understanding that a Ford dealership can't sell new diesel vehicles without a Ford factory certified mechanic on staff. I wonder if he too doesn't write things down, such as a progress log of what's got done and needs to be done.

Sounds like the new broom is starting to sweep clean. A Ford dealership needs good diesel mechanics...especially with the "Sick-0" and the 6.4...they both leave plenty to be desired!!!
