hey everybody!

my mom got a letter from allstate insurance telling her she can get a rental car. that was fast, considering her car was totaled by their customer WEEK ago! she has had a rental that her insurance is paying for, and im sure they will be collecting from allstate.

mom wasnt driving, my brother was. he got t-boned, the car is wasted he is fine other than some chemical burn (rash) from the airbags.

im stuck here at work doing mercedes training! hours and hours of listening to mono-tone dissertaions of why mercedes is the best in the world. they havent convinced me yet, i hope that doesnt hinder my passing of the tests i need to take.

Aaron:

Sad to hear about the car, and glad no-one got hurt.

Aaron, can you post a link to the, what appear to be, rear-view cameras that the truckers have mounted to the sides of their cab over the front wheel-well?

i think you are referring to Eaton's "Vorad" system. its basically a radar system. it is interfaced into the vehicles engine controller, and has pillar and dash mounted warning lights. if a car crosses the street in front of you the system will cut throttle application and apply engine brakes, as well as light up the appropriate warning led's.

the only actual camera i can think of is one that some RV's have, it is flush mounted and the lense is aimed out on an angle. i could be wrong but i believe Velvac makes them. im sure there are several other brands available as well.

Good evening CT...Aaron...glad to hear your brother is OK!!!

M/B quality is...in my opinion...suspect at best. I've sold a fair number of High Line German used cars...I've found Audi to be the best...followed by BMW. My customers have run into a lot of trouble with the Benzs.

i am not impressed with any of the german cars, especially those built after 1975. it seems they have confused their once great engineering with over complication of everything. nothing is user friendly, nothing follows common sense, they are overpriced, not reliable, and expensive to fix when out of warranty. this is why mom is walking away from the VW and getting back into a SAAB. im not big on any euro trash car, but saab is my favorite out of all the crappy choices. i like aston martin as well. the rest are junk.
