I have an 2008 ford ranger that didn't come with foglights or the wiring for foglights. I have installed foglights on the truck using the headlight switch for this ranger if it had come with foglights from factory. The gray and purple wire is in the harness at headlight switch conector and goes over to SJB module behind pass. kick panel. I have 12 volts at SJB module with foglights on gray and purple wire. I can't seem to get indicator on instrument panel to light with foglights on. According to the wiring schematic it shows "canbuss" communications from SJB module to instrument panel. Does the SBJ module have to be programmed to operate the indicator on dash.
Thanks, ctspruill

The light on the instrument cluster not the headlight switch. I talk with service manager at dealship. SJB foglight circuit according to him has to be enabled for the SJB to communicate with IC.
WHY? I already have the switch to operate the foglights. The foglights work just fine. Just wanted to know if the foglight circuit could be activated though instrument cluster to make indicator light work on IC.
Since Canbus is a very recent addition to the Ranger, most of the people here aren't familiar with it. As Rockledge said, all the previous years had the indicator light integral to the push-button switch.
Went to ford dealer today about canbus communication between instrument cluster and SJB module. Shop tech contacted engineer with ford over issue. Ford says since truck didn't come with the option from the factory. It doesn't offer an dealer option for foglights and doesn't recommend any alterations to truck. Engineer says this would be considered a modication and could void warranty. I also recieved the printout from the dealer with the communication between shop tech and engineer. Sounds like more BS from ford.
