Is there certain steps that need to be taken in order to install the factory (OEM) foglight wiring harness into a 2004 F250 SD XL? I have installed the switch and fog lights, but having difficulty with installing the foglight harness.

So far I removed the bumper and grille but had to stop at the grill frame that the grille mounts to. The frame is attached to the left and right headlights. The harness is the last item I need to install so that my F250 has operational factory fog lights.

Any suggestions or images would be appreciated.

 

The plug should be on the edge of the frame head back a few inches
on the side. I don't think you need to remove the core support. Just
look around the driver side of the frame head and you should find it.

Thanks, I found the grey plug receptacle that is located under a black cylindrical part to the right of the air cleaner housing that the fog light harness plugs in. Do I need to remove both of the units to be able to access the receptacle?

 

Not sure. Your engine type is different then mine
so the under the hood layout will also be somewhat
different. Get a mirror and flashlight and you may find
a path to get in there to make the connection. Also they
will sometimes store it a bit away from where it will be
when installed.

HEY thanks for posting about this!! I dont have any input, but I also have a 5.4L 2004 XL. I was under the impression that the XL models had zero previsions for fog lights. Did you buy the kit new? Any pictures you take will be much appreciated.

He may have to run some harness wires up into the cab.
I'll attach some wiring diagrams PDFs to this for the 04.
