I was wondering what options there are to change (run a new style pump) the location of the power steering pump on the c9ve 69 block. Anyone here with knowledge on this...thanks
not sure exactly what you are asking. do you want to do away with the old style pump and run a newer style one in the stock location? do you have the style that fits behind the balancer? if so then nothing but that style.
if it is a belt driven one then what i did on the 460 i got from a 70 Lincoln was to use the stock brackets and just bolted a newer style Pump (actually from a mid-70s mustang II as i was using the rack from same car, this way i was sure the pump pressure matched the rack requirement). it uses the same 3 bolt pattern as the old style pump. you just have to remover the pulley to remove it from the old bracket.
another thing to watch for is that the early T-bird engines used a shorter water pump, so not sure if this affects the pwr pump alignment or not, so check alignment first.
