I'm going tomorrow to look at a 92 parts truck. Gonna swap the front cap to my 90 model. Only problem is I need the doors too and they have manual windows. Can I swap my power window stuff into the manual window doors? If so how hard is it to do?
The motors and stuff are rivited to the door frame unless someone already had to swap them out once. I know the wiring is a real b***h lol. I had to figure mine out and found that the passenger side is the main control (power has to be there for the other side to work). I have thought about swapping out my doors for manual windows and locks. My baby seems to always hit the lock with her knee and has locked us out several times. Lucky these trucks still had wings on them lol.
I put electric windows in my 66 out of a 79 tbird, it was a pain and figgureing out the wireing was a b&^%$ but I got it done. Galutes already has the wiring so that shouldn't be a problem.
I did some googling and did a lot of reading. Seem for me it's gonna be a bolt in easy swap. My truck has power window's already. From what I read the manual doors already have all the holes for the power stuff. Just bolt it all up and I'm done. Looks like you might have to swap the wireing Star. Can't be that hard.
I will swap the wireing. In fact I am going to swap the dash too. I'm not sure why they are all the same color but the new one is the newer style and a lariat dash.
My 90 is a Lariet. My fenders and doors are pretty rusty but the cab is solid. It sure is gonna look sweet with the 92 grill and headlights. I never did like the grill and lights of the 90 models. The parts truck is a F250 XL but it's straight and rust free. It's got a sweet running 7.3 with a brand new Ford Dealer installed IP and Starter. All the 4X4 running gear is good except the trans. The E4OD has a busted case but was working good still. As a bonus it has 4 brand new tires with less than 500 miles on em.
There was a 87 sold about a month ago that ran good but had a bad c6 sell for 400 and it had 4 bramd new e rated toyos. If it had been a 4x I would have had to grab it.
Power window mechanism will bolt right in to the manual holes, I've done it while swapping doors. I can't remember, I think I used short 1/4-20 stove bolts to replace the rivets, but can't recall. Power door lock solenoids will also mount into a manual door, but again, I can't recall what size bolt I used in place of the rivet. Seemed to me I had to be really careful of the correct length on that one.
Actually, if I make a deal with the guy it's gonna work out pretty good for me. I get all the parts i want for my 90 plus some spares and I needed the tires and lockouts for my stroker. I just put 6 new tires on my 90 last week. My 99 stroker has slick tires on the rear. You see which one gets new tires first. LOL At least I have my prioraties straight. LOL
