my gear shift doesnt go into gear easy, sometime I have to move it up or down to get it to go in drive.Has anyone else had this problem or knows what causes it ? thanks-John
You can search for "Sloppy Shifter" for more detailed results, but 9/10 times the Torx screws on the end of the shift cable back themseves out. I had the same problem and it was a 5 minute fix that made a night and day difference. If you pull the cover underneath the dash and lay on your back on the floorboard, you can find the screws under the steering column (at the end of the shift cable) about halfway between the dash and the firewall. I believe they are T-40.
You could also check the connection at the tranny. Sometimes get stuff in there.
The ignition come out pretty easy. Insert the key to the run position, under the key in the cowl cover there is a hole that you insert a small screwdriver/awl into to unlock and just pull out. Once you get the cowl cover off, you can put in the ignition again to get rid of the annoying dinger.
