Question Fuel filter

What kind of fuel filter does every one use ?
With the cap attached or not ?
It was time to change my oil and fuel filter so I got a Car Quest Fuel filter, it had the cap attached. I could not get it on without cross threading. So i just clean up my old one and it screwed back on without any trouble.
Also down in the fuel bowl I found a piece of wire with and electrical connection on one end and some kind round thing on a wire on the other. I took it out but have no idea what it is or where it cane from.
I use Wix oil filters.

i had to use an STP the last time...only thing i could find in town as i didn't have the stock cap.

I think most use the stock filter (Motorcraft or Racor) I ordered and have the stock filter cap now so when its time to change again i will go back to the stock filter.

NAPA they have two grades 22$ to 42$, that wire is for your fuel bowl heater, plug it back up.

I use the Racor/Motorcraft filter without the cap on the filter. I pefer the OEM filters and the separate cap. I've had better luck with the separate cap sealing better.

The wire is your fuel bowl heater. It's supposed to be in there but if you removed it, I wouldn't worry about putting it back in. Just unplug the electrical connection on the outside of your filter housing.

Call me a lemming, but me too.

I only use OEM Racor/Motorcraft fuel filters (no cap). I've heard good about a few others, but too hit and miss for me. My truck has made it 195K on the Racors, so no use changing now.

I use Racor PFF4596 and get them shipped to my door for 17.95 each from a performance shop in Tomball, TX.
