This might sound strange but I used them when I mounted a car tire on my Harley. I live in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere and none of the local shops could get the specific tire I needed. At the time at least there was only one brand that made the specific size needed to make it work. Mounted and balanced it myself, rides great, no issues. I do prefer to spend my money locally whenever possible.

I bought rims and tires from them twice (truck & car). They came mounted and balanced all I had to do was bolt them on. No local shops would have been able to match the package price.

So for that set, it was going to be the same either way.

As for my truck, Discount Tire was not going to charge M&B on my truck if I bought them there, but they were charging the highest prices out of everyone for the exact same tire. If I had the tires shipped in, they would have charged $12 a tire to M&B. I did end up getting them shipped to Big'O tires near my house, and they charged me $8 a tire to M&B. However, I had already price shopped them, and I still came out cheaper by going through Tirerack. Not quite as much savings as my wife's car, but still fairly decent. So no complaints really.
If you were happy...it's all good then...and yeah, when you roll up in a B'mer, Mecedes, Porshe, etc, i think they do tack on a little extra...

There are several great websites to buy tires from. The prices vary from site to site depending what size you want, load rating, and brand. You should look through all of them. It only takes a couple of minutes and can be as much as half off tires from yourt local store.

Here is my list in order of overall general price from low to high.

1. Onlinetires.com-I used them once. Service was ok tires generally seem to be about $50 cheaper than anywherre else online.

2. Tireseasy.com-I used them once too. Service was great. Huge selection.

3. Discounttiredirect.com- never used but I chatted with the guy online who said he would match any delivered to my door price. This is where Im gonna buy my next set of tires.

4. Tirebuyer.com- never used, good selection

5. Tirerack.com- never used, kind of expensive compared to other sites

6. 1010tires.com- never used, great selection, pretty expensive.

Most sites offer roadhazard warrantys and give help to find reputable installers. Almost all sites will price match.

I understand most are worried about the install price but on average around the Colorado area it will cost total of $20 a tire. You may be able to save $200-300 by buying online and pay $80 for install. Thats at least $120 savings for a great set of tires. JUst be careful to get the right load rating. Our trucks are rated fot a 10 ply E rated tire.

Write me directly if you have any questions. Im no expert but I have this weird passion for tires

I spend my money locally. Id rather help feed my brother and best friend that works for Big O Tires. Not to mention keep the local economy alive as well. Yeah I may get a small price brake, but its nothing to brag about. The store brand is made by larger companies like Michelin, Good Year, and other various makers at a lesser cost. Ill pay the extra $200 for a set of tires and help the lil guy out under the big name. And sometimes, the smaller guys will also price match most tires online. All you gotta do bring in a print out with the tire and price. If not oh well..Its always worth a shot.

I took my truck to Peerless Tyres in Fort Collins, the guy that manages the shop is great, gave me a great deal on tires and made it worth my while, Id recommend going to him for any purchases.

I wish I would have went bigger on the tires now, grrr, could have dropped a 285/75/16 on there instead of a 265/75/16, darn.....

50k miles from now I will, haha.

Peerless doesnt sell that bad of tires. Again they are just subnamed and the bigger brands make them. Good luck and enjoy your tires

285s are great. I just sold mine for 100 bux to a family member that needed some tires for his Ford. I now how the stock 265s. It doesnt pull like the other ones did. Im ok with that

Peerless ordered me in some bridgestone revo 2's, arrived next day, easy transaction. Treated very well up in Fort Collins, this was my 3rd set of tires I bought from the guy there.

Good deal man! If you can stick with the same guy, he'll forever remember you and eventually will start to know what you like and dislike.

You kind of may want to watch that. I went with Cooper Discover S/Ts and the 285s are load range D and the 265s are load range E. The 285 load range Ds are actually rated for more weight than the 265 load range Es. Just something to be aware of. IIRC one guy said you MUST put load range Es on a SD. I am not so sure this is vital so long as the tires meet the weight ratings of the vehicle. You may want to ask your local tire guy. Try that with TireRack.com...
I use Pete's Tire in Whitewater, WI for all my tire needs. I am ordering a set of irons through them to work on tractor and implement tires at home. They were more than happy to set me up with them! Maybe I am that big of a PITA they are glad to see me change my own farm tires
