I really would like to start replacing my tires, 3 of mine have 70%+ tread but 01/02 production dates and dry rot is making them unwanted for road use especially with summer and hot roads coming soon.
I'm using stock tire size of 235/75-15's. I was shown a set of 255/70-15's that I liked, quoted 90 a tire... 71.00 a tire for junk korea tires off of tirerack.com
I just bought a set of 4 at Walmart TLE for $380 including mounting, stems, balancing and road hazard warranty and free lifetime balancing. Goodyear Wrangler P235/75-15. My old set was the same thing and I got 50K miles out of them and they were still in pretty good shape.
I have been using these "Junk" Korean tires for almost three years now with no issues. I have been in varying depths of snow and mud, hauled over a ton of gravel and dirt and variuos other construction supplies and towed several car trailers. I did get the truck LT tires and not the XL rated tires. They have served me well and have worn well. Not even very noisy. They handle rain quite well also. And they dont look to horrible either, check out my gallery/Garage here on FTE.
i would kill 90.oo per tire.my motor home was $500.oo per tire for 6.why don't you try going to a tire shop and buy a used set.i do this all the time.there are a lot of people who take off factory tires and put on aftermarket tires and rims,so tire shops have these tires lying around.
I've had Kuhmos explode on the highway, Barums explode, and many other tires. DOT dates were all less than 6 yrs old. I'm sure it was just the model of tire I was using and you won't have any trouble, I just can't see myself putting those on my truck after all I've been threw. Going to search some junkyards today if I find time.
