I've searched and searched and can't find the short answer to this question. My 2005 Lariat has stock 18" wheels. Can I put 17's on this without changing the calipers or rotors? It seems that there is a larger selection of 17" tires out there, and I don't want 20's.
helllo its been awhile , seams i might have done a stuppid thing. Had my tranmision oil flushed and changed, over the weekend. today my rear wheels locked up as i was leaving work . i thought i hit something it did it about 3 times. but i got on I95 and made it home. didnt seam to have any problem . i checked the fluid all is good and new. im not sure the tranny ws locking up or the rear end seamed like just one tire. Ya try to keep your truck running good and this happens . Thanks for any info. nivek60
A few years back I had the trans flushed at a quick change oil place in a 95 Blazer, I had to replace the trans 500 miles later. I was later told by a trans shop (my brother- in- law) that if you have your trans flushed at the recomended intervals it should be OK, but if you go well beyond said intervals you should only drain and replace filter. His reasoning for this is that all the metal shavings that have settled in the bottom of the pan get agitated back into all the vital components and cause catastroic failure. I hope you have better luck than I had.
You should have started a new thread for your problem , but I couldn't resist sharing my story.

Reason: I just felt like it
talk about a thread jack huh? this was guy was asking about rims for a truck not about transmissions??? WTF.
and yes you can put 17's on as stated above. not sure the backspacing either.
