A 285/70R17 is the max recommended size for the Daystar lift.

I can't say that you have to, but I'd recommend it.

I have 285s with no lift... i bet you can get 315s on there, that would be a 35 inch tire.

285 what? 70? 65? 60? The 285 only represent the tread width. I plan on putting on a set of 295/70R17's which is roughly a 33 x 12.5.

I have 285/70/17, with no lift, no rub, it doesnt even rub off-roading. 285/70/17 is a 33 inch tire. I bet you could fit a 315/70/17, which is 35 inch. Your gas milage will suffer though, mine already is...

I think the recommended 285 width is the widest based on using the stock rims, to keep from rubbing during full lock turns. If you got some aftermarket rims with a smaller offset then you could probably get away with running a 315 tire. I'm running a 285 tire on 20" rims and have no problems at all, but I'm not sure what the offset is. I was wanting to get rid of these 20" "street" wheels and tires and hopefully run a 315/75/16 (only because I already have a slightly used set waiting to go on some rims and on my truck) If I can't use them, oh well, nothing lost, but if I can, hooyah! I do know this 2" lift will be a neccessity as well.

Has anyone installed this kit yet and if so what are your thoughts on it? I too would love to see some pics if anyone has any.

There is a user running 315s with no lift at all.... see his gallery here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...&albumid=11911

not sure if that would work on the newer models though...

I have pics of my set up in my gallery.

Im not sure how far Id try running a 315/75 on a stock ride height, even with the 4" procomp, I still get rubbing in the rear with the same size tire and my trailer attached.

Exclamation How about some pics of Gen II Expys

MOOK and Buba Hyde are driving Gen I 4x4 Expys. You can't compare tire fitment of these to the Gen II's. New body style, obviously. And in a fit of brilliance, Ford realized they could build 4x4 and 4x2 Expy's the same on this newer platform and save money. Which in turn gave us 4x4 owners the shaft because now our truck isn't any higher than a 4x2 model! This is by far my biggest gripe about this truck.

Anyway, let's get back to comparing apples to apples. Who out there has pics of a Gen II Expy with larger than OE tires on it?

Where does it rub, on the inside, top, outside fender? This could be fixed with a different offset wheel. It may not be ideal but it is possible if you come up with the right combination of wheel off-set and lift. Is this 4" Pro-Comp lift on a 03-05 Expy?
