yes i bought one too is does help but after seeing it now on my truck i would just go to a exhaust shop and have them make me one that looks better for the same price. when i get ready to put a bigger cat back on my truck for towing im going to get the exhaust shop to redo it
I have one. I gained between 1-2 mpg by installing it. Don't know if there are any gains in torque and/or HP but it feels a little more pep. I recommend it.

Just curious, but where'd you get it and are your MPG gains freeway or combined? Either way, that's enough of a reason for me to get one. Thanks, Jim
Sand_man,
I got the same one that is in the first post, from the same seller. He had a different name. But it came from the same city in Oregon. It'll fit a 5.4L or a 6.8L. Regarding the mileage, it is mostly freeway, but even then I'm usually 5-10 over the limit.....if you know what I mean.
I put a cat back exhaust on my rig back in '03 but didn't realize at the time there was that pinch point in the factory exhaust. Took me 5 years to realize that the y-pipe what it needed all along. One of those....'wish I knew then what I know now' things.
Get it. You won't be sorry.
Ford must have REALLY made some changes to the newer ones. Mine looks nothing like the picture of the stock Y pipe. Mine has large pipes and two big cats before the Y collector. My Y collector looks more like the new one pictured. Is that factory Y pipe pic real? I looks like an exhaust sine wave nightmare!
As usual, lots of good needed info from my fellow FTE's. Looks like I will also be buying one this spring but I don't have the luxury of a welder nor would I be very good at it. Maybe someone in the Fremont N.H. area could help me out. I just installed a K&N FIPK on my truck yesterday morning, I have a Superchips Cortex Tuner coming today via FedEx and will look forward to tuning it out & I should be getting my new sway arm bushing set from Amazon on Friday and I can install that maybe over the weekend if not sooner. I made enough room on one side of my garage so that I can pull the front end of my truck in to be able to work on it if needed. So hopefully with the K&N FIPK, the tuner and the Y pipe I hopefully wont have to have my foot so far into the pedal to get rolling. I wonder what total HP I may gain all together?

How is the quality of the metal one from e-bay? Does it appear to be holding up well? How long have you had it?
I have a 2003 Excursion 5.4 and have just started looking for a Y pipe when I found this post. The e-bay ad is gone. Does anyone know where I can get it???
