If I remember correctly 78 and 79 are different style and will not cancel signal, but will still fit. They are also smaller.

I tried a 78 steering wheel on my 77 F100 and that was what I found as well. Exactly what he said.

Well, thats what I was afraid of. It seams they are in the best shape as far as cracks. I was wanting to get a better steering wheel. I like the stock look. New is really high. No, really really really high, like insane high. I just used parts from three steering wheels to put one center together. All cracked!

I fixed the cracks in mine w/ fiberglass resin, reshaped it and painted. Looks pretty nice.

Hmm, Not a bad idea! Maybe I will try that. I will not be out much if it looks bad. It can not look much worse than it does now.

I just did a welding job for a local car hauler. he wanted me to do it on a sat so he could keep it on the road during the week. i told him right up front. "This job will cost you $349.99" which is the delivered to my door price of my brand spanking new steering wheel for my 74. he chuckled and said, "done".

The same guy just called again and before he told me what he wanted done he asked, "what am i buying this week"? I replyed "My new dash pad".

I am not bragging, i am just so happy. It is in route to my shop. I had planned on using the old stuff and saving for months.

Lucky BASTERD!!! I never get that lucky on finding extra work to support my hobby. LOL Hope the good fortune keeps "trucking" your way. P.S. my dash is still fine no cracks and no extra work. LOL

I have restored a couple of wheels using epoxy to fill the cracks then sanding smooth.
Clean the wheel real good to get all the grime off then scotch brite the sheen off of it and finish with two coats of automotive polyurethane.
Expensive paint but it will look like new and won't wear off like regular paint.
Feels and looks like plastic.

Thanks for the tip. I never thought about fixing mine. It sounds like that is the thing to do. That is unless you can weld! Just kidding. I just love his luck. I need some of it.

1971/77 F100/350 & 1974/77 Bronco's use the same steering wheels except for 1975/77 F100/350's with Cruise Control.

1971/73: These wheels were originally available in Red, Tan, Blue, Green and Black.

1974/77 F100/350/Bronco steering wheel was available in Black only (D4TZ3600A).

In the late 1970's, Ford replaced the 1971/73 steering wheels with D4TZ3600A (use w/o Cruise Control) which has been reproduced by Dennis Carpenter.

The three different horn pad/switches used on 1971/77's are not the same as used on 1978/79's.

1971/77: 1) Black vinyl. 2) Vinyl with wood graining applique XLT only. 3) Use w/Cruise Control only.
