The "E","F", and hash marks in between have little if any reflection on what is in the tank in my experience. I always fill my tank and use the trip clock to monitor mileage. I get about 330km on the front tank and 630 on the back on average. When my rear tank shows empty I'll often still have a 100km left.
How is it that you can go almost twice as far on the rear tank? The front tank is larger.
I just write the current odometer reading on the back of the receipt .. it has the gallons pumped on the front .. then enter the info into a spreadsheet I set up and walla .. let's me track cost too .. and any 'trends' become obvious ..
yea i had gave it a tune up a few thousand miles ago, cleaned the fuel injectors with the real stuff not the $3 bottles, changed the o2 sensor between the two cats about this time last year. and also iave had the 420 code come up for the cat efficiency below threshold (bank 1), so maybe one of my cats are bad or my front two o2 sensors are bad? i do realize though that when i fill up when the gauge is just above the E, i can get about 14 gallons, im pretty sure that it is a 18-19 gallon tank? so that means like i said that there is about 4-5 left on E?
You can't really access all of the gas that is in the tank, so there will likely be a couple of gallons still in there.
My 300 with the M5OD got about 12-14 around the back roads and town, and pushed 20mpg on open highway with a slight downhill grade(heading south from here, it's downhill most of the way). Depends a lot on what gears you have, though. And remember, your 32" tires throw off your speedo, which throws off your mileage calculations.
Well on my truck i do about 13-15 MPG and i just get the common tune up, with new rotor, spark plug, cables, and cap for rotor, also oil change, and fuel filter, air filter, also once in awhile Lucas fuel for the gas. i thinking about replacing the Oxygen senor.

yea ive found out its .3 miles behind, so when it says ive gone 12 miles, ive really gone 12.9 miles. ill see what im gettin at the end of the week, hopefully gas doesnt change like it always does, it shouldnt be over $1.75 in the first place
wow that sucks, thats almost as bad as a 79 with a 460 i drove! lol, sometime at the beginning of this summer ill do an electric fan swap, try and get whatever i can outa that since everyone says that they do give increases

Indicated speedo and odometer errors are going to be exponential. It also works the other way, larger tires=slower speedo readings and lower odometer readings. The faster you're going, the more the speedo/odo is going to be off. Kinda tough to calculate mileage that way...
