Ive been getting a big cloud of blueish white smoke on start up the last few days?
It clears away fairly fast.
Could it be GPR getting bad?
Ive been going to get a Stancor one but its been starting good so I didnt worry about it.
Have you done any checks on the GPR Ken ??? Do you have a GPR led installed ?? You can check it with a multi-meter. The post on the right as you're looking at it should have power only when the key is turned on.. The other post should have power all the time.
Could also be some the glow plugs have failed. I just helped my nephew change all the driver's side GP's and the UVCH. All 8 glow plugs were bad. We got a late start, so we did one side only. The UVCH clip was so brittle that it broke off. Good thing I had a new updated version as a spare. I need to get another UVCH, just in case, for the other side. At 212,000 miles things are getting a little "crispy". It started up much better with only 4 GP's working, Just imagine when he has all 8. We retorqued everything while we under there and checked the oil discharge from the injectors before reinstalling the VC.
It starts Ok and its been fairly cold.
But when it starts it smokes things up pretty good for a minute or so.
It clears right up but something must be doing it.
Sounds like an 8 year old engine to me. New GPR and GPs may alleviate this some but if it clears fairly quick who cares? On cold days mine smokes like a steam locomotive when started. This happened as soon as I replaced my injectors so I attribute it to that. Other than that, it runs like a raped ape when it is warm and no start up smoke. There is other smoke when warm though.

Mine outruns a few Dodges on a regular basis ,so Im happy with its performance but this smoke deal happened all at once.
It didnt do it at all last week and this week its laying down a smoke screen.
