First off, Hello....this is my first post. I purchased a 79' F-150 on Friday and started fixing some problems over the weekend. Here is one issue that concerns me right now.
When I purchased it the guy told me that it could use a new blower motor for the heat. I still have not figured out how to get to it. Second, when I turn on the selector switch for the heat/fan speed, the orange wire connected to this switch gets really hot. After taking the dash apart, the plug looks melted pretty good. What would you suggest as a next step? Replace blower motor? Replace switch? Replace switch plug?
Does it have air or not? You'll have to pull the whole heater box out from under the dash to get to the blower motor, i'd do the heater core while you have it apart also. Like vtjvt said, replace the motor and the melted plug and keep an eye out for a short to make it melt again. Do a search for the detailed description how to replace the heater core and blower motor! Its kinda simple after you do it a time or 2!

It did come with factory air, it looks like the blower motor might be outside of the firewall, alteast thats where the squirrel cage is located, right next to the hoses that lead to the heater core. Anyone know the best place to get the plug and switch?
