I would like to set up the transfer case I have to the transmission I have but I am going to need a little help. I have a BW 1356 that has a 31 spline input and I am going to need a way to set up a yoke on it so I can hook it up to the yoke on my tranny. First off is the u joint on the tranny a 1350? And how can I set up a yoke on the transfer case? I was thinking of using a outer axle shaft but to try to find one that will have the right spline and take a 1350 might be a needle in a hay stake situation if any thing like that is even out there.
Yep, Want to avoid the hole make the trans work with the tc trip. Way to much work and money. If I can just get a yoke on the tc all Ill have to do is fab up a mount for the tc. Lots of work but a lot less money and the tras I have now works so I would like to use it and not get into it to make it work with the tc I have.
i'm not sure what the joint is, i thought they were 1330's, but now i cant remember. you are going to get into alot of money with the driveshafts as you realize you will have a hell of an angle on teh rear shaft now the the t-case will be sitting so far back. probably going to have to get a cv style joint for the angle you will create with the set up.
Just a standard custom driveshaft is like 300 dollars.
I can get the driveshafts done dirt cheap and no matter what I do the switch to 4x4 is going to get me into custom drive shafts. I am adding some lift also so the stock drive shaft aint going cut it no matter what.
Need some info on a yoke. I am looking for a 31 spline yoke for a 1350 u joint I think the sterling 10.25 axle uses them. Any one know for sure? Or have one fore sale?
I doubt you can make a 1356 into a divorced case without a whole bunch of work. Far easier would be to hit craigslist and pick up a NP205 divorced case. They were used in F250s from 73 to 79. You can get 1350 yokes for the inputs and outputs easily. I've seen them for $100 here quite regularly and a rebuild can be done for under $200. They are the most bulletproof case put in a pickup.
Just be forewarned that the tail shaft on a 2wd E4OD is so long that you're going to have to put in two part front drive shaft. The maximum length for a slip spline shaft with 3" tube and 1350 u-joints is 48". Beyond that you'll have vibration problems. With a D60 front axle the distance fore to aft from the axle yoke to the transmission yoke is ~46". That leaves you nothing for the transmission to transfer case drive shaft.

Automatics have 1350 u-joints in all positions.

On a 2wd crew cab the existing drive line is 95" long. That's a lot of length to play with and avoid much of an angle.
Thanks, very useful information. Just did some fast research and it looks like the input shaft on a np205 might slip right onto the output shaft of the zf I have. If so that would save me a lot of back yard engineering. The bw1356 I have would need a drive shaft between the trans and tc that would mean more money time and more things to go wrong. If any one has any pics of a divorced TC setup I am sure it would help.
have you checked on prices for a 4wd trans? The amount of work you put into divorced case is very large! What will you for shifter linkage? How much room rear of the trans do you have before the fuel tank is in the way?

Yea, still thinking about the 4x4 trans but thats big money for me right now and the work ill have to do to set up a divorced tc will be free. As far as linkage the junkyards and maybe some fab work will get that done. Good point on the gas tank ill be looking into that.

Check out a few salvage yard and see what type of trade Zf for ZF they will give you. let them drive your truck to verify the integrity of your trans and I bet they would be willing to deal.
