Maybe it does. I was real nervous taking her out like that, the cherry picker wouldn't lift her high enough, so that is why I had to take everything off of the front.
I'm down to removing the cam, pistons and crank, then it's off to Napa's machine shop.
Hey Robert, how much are you going to hone out the piston walls? Are you going to have a different cam installed?
Not sure about the honing, It seems to be stock, so I am hoping to get by with just breaking the glaze on it, if not, it is a bit long in the tooth so it may need to be bored. On a side note it looks like it has been zero-decked has anyone else noticed this on a stock 300? I'll have to take pictures and post them.
I am planning on a different cam, not too sure what to go with, I have been reading the forums at fordsix and haven't been able to find what will be good. I have to wait and see if it will need over-boring , then calculate the cr so I get a cam in the right area (some are recommended only for certain compression ratios.)
I think you would have to take an indicator and clean to bare metal on deck and piston and see how much lower the piston is.If they are dead even then I think that is dead zero,at least that is the way I understand it.I don't think they take much off and I don't think it's something that can readily seen, without gauges.
