Optima Battery

Question,
I'll be needing batteries soon.
Live in CO.
Do you think the Optima battery is worth the 170.00. You guys who use them how long do the last? seems like I only get two maybe three years out of the Costco bats I've been putting in the truck.

Thanks Brice

Shop arround. Do you have a Costco near you? You can get the red top for around $140. I have had them for about three years with no issues at all.

They are great.

But has been said, shop around. Maybe online. I got a pair for about $130/ea when on sale at 4wheelparts. They have been a godsend for me. I went thru acouple brands before Optima and they went bad quickly and leaked acid out the top because I am always bouncing in 4x4.

I would say there are great, but look to Walmart or Sears. Most batteries are made by Johnson Controls and per store offer a Free three to 5 year replacement warranty.
I have Sears Die Hards(gold series)
good luck!
make sure you buy the batteries that match or exceed CCA and CA for your diesel truck

Since Optima has moved there operations our of the country, to Mexico IIRC, the Yellow tops in my truck will probably be my last. I will probably go with Odyssey next as they have higher CCA from what I have seen. Not cheap batteries, but they are quality.

Odyssey PC2150 series battery

Construction
• Pure virgin lead plates for maximum surface area, optimized recycling
• AGM (absorbed glass mat) design eliminates acid spills
• High conductivity, corrosion-resistant tin-plated brass terminals
• High integrity terminal seal
• Sealed design—gases recycled internally during operation or charging
• Safety relief valve per cell
• Robust intercell connections prevent vibration damage

Better warranty
Limited 3- and 4-year full replacement warranty – not pro rata.

Longer service life
With 3-10 years of service life, ODYSSEY
TM batteries save consumers
time, money, and aggravation.

Longer cycle life
70% longer cycle life compared to conventional deep cycle batteries –
up to 400 cycles at 80% depth of discharge – high stable voltage for
longer periods of time.
Longer shelf life
Can be stored on open circuit (nothing connected to the terminals) without the need for recharging up to 2 years or down to 12.00V, whichever occurs first.
Faster recharge
The highest recharge efficiency of any sealed lead battery on the market – capable of 100% recharge in 4 - 6 hours.
Mounting flexibility
Non-spillable design – can be mounted on any side in any position except inverted.
Vibration resistance
Design protects against high impact shock and mechanical vibration –
a common cause of premature battery failure.
Extreme temperature tolerant
Operating temperatures from -40°C (-40°F) to 80°C (176ºF).
Totally maintenance free
No need to add water, ever! Drycell design with resealable venting system.
Improved safety
US Department of Transportation classified as a ‘non-spillable’ battery.
No acid spills, no escaping gases.

Optima batteries are best in the garbage at your house or on the shelf at any retailer.

Your truck came with 1000cca batteries, and require the same as replacement. Optimas only have 800CCA, so you are short 400cca when installed in our trucks.
